Seventy times, you will have the conversation you would normally walk away from. With the family member you stopped calling. The coworker who gets under your skin. The stranger online who believes the opposite of everything you do.

But you will not walk in blind, and you will not walk in trying to do everything at once. You will walk in prepared, the way a miner always does.
Before every conversation
The Miner's Checklist
No miner enters a shaft without checking their light, their gear, and the air. A conversation is no different. Five questions, every time, before you descend. The lantern comes first. If your light is off, nothing else matters.
Light your lantern
Am I going in curious, or going in blind? Do I already think I know how this ends?
Check your lens
Which of the sixteen am I wearing right now? What am I bringing in with me?
Check your pressure
What is my gauge reading before I even start? Am I already hot?
Check your tools
Which tools am I carrying today, and do I know how to use them?
Check your curiosity
What kind of questions will I ask this time? Ones that open, or ones that trap?
Then choose your focus
Pick three. Only three.

Before each conversation, you choose three things to practice. Only three. Not the whole toolbox. Three objectives, drawn from the five strengths below, so you walk in focused instead of overwhelmed. Practice them until they feel natural. Then trade them for new ones and grow.

Some lessons you learn by watching.
The Shadow Miner works differently from the others. You are not in the conversation. You are the student in the corner, learning the trade by watching the work, the way every miner once did. You carry a card of things to catch, and each time you spot one in the wild, you mark it. You see most clearly when you have nothing to defend.

WHY THE CHALLENGE EXISTS
What counts as a win
You are not keeping score the old way.
This was never about being right seventy times. The mine taught you a different scoreboard. Any one of these is gold.
You found one agreement
One thing you both actually want, underneath everything you do not. Even a small one counts. Especially a small one.
You cooled the pressure
A conversation heating toward a blowup, and you steadied it. Nobody got hurt. That is a win the old you never had.
You saw the other facet
You caught yourself certain, and you looked again. The cold person turned out to be scared. You let the story change.
You stayed when you wanted to run
You felt the old pull to shut down or storm off, and you stayed one minute longer. Courage is a rep too.
Log each one in your journal. Reach seventy, and the mine names you what you have become. A Waywright. One who can build the way through
The mine was never testing whether you were strong enough. It was teaching you that you already were.

And then you keep the fire lit.
The journey ends where every miner's does, at the campfire deep underground but open to the sky. You will leave your mark on the wall for whoever comes next. You will place a stone for the people who ran out of time. And you will understand the thing the whole mine was built to teach.
