You found the mine. Most people never do. Take a breath, set down what you are carrying, and let the old miners look you over.
Two voices in the lantern light
The old miners see you first.
Before you see them, you hear them. Two voices drifting up from the dark, arguing about something that does not matter at all.
Rowan:
"Another one, Adler."
Adler:
"I can see that, Rowan. I have eyes."
Rowan:
"Both of them? Behind those glasses?"
Adler:
"Welcome to the Orientation Hall. Ignore him. He can fix anything except his manners."
Rowan:
"And he can plan anything except a comeback."
Then both of them, at the same time:
"You made it. That was the hard part."
How the journey works
Four steps. One descent.
Step One
Turn On Your Light
Before you can hear anyone else, you will learn to hear yourself. The echoes you carry. The lenses you see through. The light on your helmet is your worldview. The lantern in your hand is your attention. You will learn to use both, and the mine will look different once you do.
Step Two
Mining for Agreement
The descent itself. The tools, the glowing crystals, the pressure and the gold. You will learn to read a conversation the way a miner reads a mountain. To spot the cracks before the cave-in. To look at the other side of the crystal. And to dig for the agreement that was underneath the argument all along.
Step Three
Heal the Mine
The Collapsed Shafts. This is where broken conversations live. The cracked foundations. The flooded passages. The bridges that fell and were never rebuilt. You will learn to repair trust the way miners repair a shaft: together, slowly, with silver in the cracks. And the mine keeps one law above all others here. You do not reach the gold by stepping over the damage. You go through it. On the far side of the repaired bridge, the Gold Veins are waiting.
Step Four
Challenge Yourself
The 70 Conversations Challenge. You will carry everything the mine taught you back to the surface, and have the conversations you have been avoiding. Seventy of them. With people you would normally walk past, argue with, or hide from. Finding gold. Steadying pressure. Making agreements in the wild. This is where miners are made.
The rules of the mine
The mine keeps its own law.
Caves stay sealed until the one above them has taught you what it knows.
Badges mark what you have learned. Your first one, First Descent, is earned the moment you begin.
Artifacts are gifts. The mine decides when you have earned them.
The crystals do not lie. They show only what is truly there, and they add nothing that is not. If someone shouts in anger but Lapis grows at their feet, the mountain knows the truth. They are sad. And if there is no agreement, there is no gold. The mine cannot be fooled.
No one mines alone. The guides stay. That is the whole point of them.
You need nothing but the courage to go first. The lantern is provided.
